Tips and Tricks with Air Tool Oil

A couple of months ago AMSOIL announced an interesting product that can help around the shops of the DIYer or professional, a new Air Tool Oil.  Air Tools are a major investment that deserve the same protection your car gets….thats where AMSOIL Air Tool Oil comes into play.  By applying just 3-5 drops of into the air inlet before and/or after using your air/pneumatic tools you can help reduce wear and prevent corrosion, thus extending tool life.

AIR

We have been testing this product here at Chrome City Oil for a few months now and we are pleased with the results.  We usually only get to work on our cars a couple of times a week (weather and work permitting) so its very possible for our air tools to go a few weeks without use.  We used AMSOIL Air Tool Oil with an Ingersoll Rand (IR) 1/2” drive impact wrench, AIRCAT Compact 1/2” impact, and a 3/8” air ratchet.  The IR 1/2” drive impact wrench has been our everyday impact for over 10 years now and had never been oiled before.  The IR 3/8” air ratchet has been in the tool box for over ten years as well but was rarely used.  While the AIRCAT Compact 1/2” impact is new to the box it has been used regularly for the last few months.

Since the IR had never been oiled it did take a little more oil before the tool showed signs of improvements.  The impact had started to slow over the years and seemed to struggle with stuck on bolts more than before.  I was getting ready to rebuild it but decided try AMSOIL’s Air Tool Oil first to see if could help.  While AMSOIL sells this oil more as preventive maintenance it breathed new life into my impact.  Speed increased and brought back the ease of removing lug nuts and stubborn motor mount bolts just as it did when new.  I’m a believer in this new product and very happy to be offering it for sale.
